General

Oil-immersed transformers are fundamental components in modern power systems. As the name implies, they use insulating oil as a key medium to ensure reliable operation.​
The construction of oil-immersed transformers consists of several crucial parts. The core, usually made of high – quality silicon steel, serves as the magnetic path, guiding the magnetic flux. Windings, which are wound around the core, are responsible for voltage transformation. Insulating oil fills the tank, effectively providing insulation between the windings and the core. Additionally, it acts as a coolant, dissipating heat generated during operation.​
These transformers operate based on Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction. When an alternating current passes through the primary winding, it creates a changing magnetic field in the core. This magnetic field induces an electromotive force in the secondary winding, thereby achieving voltage transformation.​
Oil-immersed transformers are widely applied in various power transmission and distribution scenarios. In large – scale power plants, they step up the generated voltage for long – distance transmission, minimizing power losses. In substations, they step down the voltage to levels suitable for industrial and residential use. Their high capacity and excellent heat dissipation capabilities make them an ideal choice for handling high – power loads.​
